Project Description:

The Cincinnati History Museum is a major tenant of the Cincinnati Museum Center, a dynamic cultural institution found within the beautifully restored Union Terminal train station. The museum’s design combines contextual artifact displays, historic sets, interactive exhibits and special effects with re-created environments. This approach creates varied interpretive experiences and provides entertaining first-person interactions for the visitor.

Attention to specific historic details and colors was critical to the development of the buildings that made up the museum's Public Landing Gallery. JRA’s design team researched, located and acquired much of the historic architectural hardware used on the buildings. Finally, each building was “aged” by a team of scenic painters to add peeling paint, dirt, flood lines and hand-worn patina.
