Project Description:
In its first five years LaunchPAD Children’s Museum has welcomed over 300,000 visitors. Far surpassing their initial attendance goals, the museum is teaching children about construction, architecture, water, wind, agriculture, and role-playing--all while building, splashing, and laughing. The PAD in LaunchPAD stands for “play and discover,” because the exhibits are experiential and hands-on, encouraging imagination, problem solving and open-ended exploration.
This $6 million family-friendly venue, targeted to children from infancy to age ten, isn’t just an interactive learning and discovery zone for greater Siouxland families. It’s contributing to the rejuvenation of downtown Sioux City’s Historic Pearl Street. As Executive Director Carrie Lebowich commented, "When the kids come in, they're always happy to be here. They're sad to leave, but they go home and they probably tell their parents they want to come right back."
